Q: How does breast intertrigo form?

A: Breast intertrigo forms when moisture, a lack of light and ventilation, and two overlapping layers of skin come in contact.

Q: How do you prevent rashes under the breast caused by sweat?

A: There are many practical solutions to preventing breast rashes.  Bathe regularly, wear loose fitting clothing, wear a properly fitting bra, and use a good bra liner in the brassiere to collect breast sweat.

Q: Should I use cornstarch under my breasts to absorb breast sweat?

A: No.  Cornstarch is a food that the rashes will feed on.

Q: How many times can I wash BraMates before they become ineffective?

A: Our use and wash tests indicate that BraMates will remain effective to about 100 uses.  BraMates will change shape slightly after the first wash as all fine garments will, but will not lose any effectiveness until the corrosiveness of sweat destroys the fabric at or about the 100 use point.

Q: What is the cost per use for BraMates?

A: Based on 100 washes and 100 days the cost per daily use averages just under $.10. (Based on D Cup, cost effective 2 pair order, using with a lingerie bag).

Q: How do Bra Mates bra liners help with breast sweat?

A: Bra Mates bra liners absorb sweat away from breast skin and into the liner. By absorbing the sweat away from the skin the discomfort of breast sweat is alleviated.

Q: How do I care for my Bra Mates bra liners?

A: Bra Mates are easy to maintain. Bra Mates are made of high quality everyday fabrics and are designed to be washable and re-usable. Simply wash and dry as you would any undergarment. Bra Mates are machine washable. You may wash by hand and line dry if you prefer.

Q: I have a rash and sores (like scaly barnacles) underneath my breast. What is this and will BraMates help?

A: We recommend you consult with your dermatologist or physician. However, dermatologists we have consulted have told us the following:

Rashes and infection underneath the breast may be a form or yeast or fungal infection known as breast intertrigo. These infections may be healed using anti fungal and yeast medications and ointments. Keeping the area underneath the breast dry and clean will help promote healing.

Many of our clients have experienced rashes and infection underneath the breast due to breast sweat. Our clients tell us that using Bra Mates continuously helped alleviate the discomfort of rashes. Additionally, it’s been found that with continual use of Bra Mates the rashes disappeared because Bra Mates solved the source of the problem; breast sweat trapped underneath the breast in the bra. Bra Mates helps keep the area underneath the breast dry and clean, which promotes healing and prevents recurrence of rashes and infection. We advise you consult with a dermatologist for treatment of any skin infections.

Q: Can I use medicine with Bra Mates?

A: Yes, topical medicines that can be used with gauze may be used with Bra Mates. We recommend keep the area clean and change Bra Mates a bit more frequently to keep area clean and dry and promote healing.

Q: Can I use powders with Bra Mates?

A: While powders would not damage Bra Mates we don’t recommend the use of powders underneath the breast.    According to dermatologists we have consulted; powders, especially cornstarch based powders may worsen the problem of rashes and fungal infection underneath the breast. Cornstarch is food for fungus and may worsen a fungal infection when used.

Q: Do Bra Mates come in sizes larger than FF?

A: Yes, we can provide custom size Bra Mates for women who are larger than FF. We would require bandwidth measurements and cup size. Contact us for more details.

Q: Can I use Bra Mates while I’m nursing?

A: Yes, simply place Bra Mates on the bottom half of the breast, positioned underneath your nursing pad. We do not recommend using Bra Mates as nursing pad.

Q: Will Bra Mates stay in place?

A: Bra Mates has a slip resistant material that is placed against the bra or undergarment. There are no adhesives in Bra Mates. If you are very active or if your bra is not properly fitted, Bra Mates may slip. If that happens simply re-adjust the liner. We recommend you visit a professional bra fitter, (most department stores have one) if you feel your bra is not properly fitted.

Q: I have an odor from breast sweat; can perfumes be used with Bra Mates bra liners?

A: Yes, we recommend if you are using perfumes or deodorant to apply perfume on the exterior layer, the layer that is against the bra NOT the cotton/linen layer that will be touching the breast skin.

Q: Can mastectomy patients wear Bra Mates underneath breast forms?

A: Yes, Bra Mates will work to keep chest area dry due to heat, friction, and sweat produced by latex or silicone breast forms. Simply place cotton/linen side of Bra Mates against chest skin and exterior layer against the breast form.
